CHANDIGARH MAYOR HARPREET KAUR BABLA TO REPRESENT INDIA AT PRESTIGIOUS BRICS URBAN FUTURE FORUM 2025 IN MOSCOW 17-18 SEPTEMBER

CHANDIGARH—In a moment of immense pride for the city of Chandigarh, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla will represent India as the only mayor from the country at the BRICS Urban Future Forum 2025, to be held in Moscow, Russia, from September 17-18.

The Mayor has received political clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for this significant international engagement.
The Forum’s unique platform will bring together more than 15,000 participants and over 300 speakers from 30 countries. Heads of foreign cities, leaders of international business, and expert communities are invited to discuss and find effective technological solutions for the development of megacities. There will also be an exchange of best practices and knowledge on how the use of cloud technologies and smart city concepts can increase the efficiency of urban infrastructure for business and improve the quality of life of city residents.
Mayor Babla has been invited as a keynote speaker at the forum, where she will deliver an address on the topic “Technological Framework of the City. The Space of the Future.” Her participation highlights the growing international recognition of Chandigarh’s progress in urban governance and development.
During her speech, Mayor Babla will focus on several key areas, including:
- Hybrid Economy of the City: Discussing new challenges and opportunities for megacities in their pursuit of economic growth and social well-being.
- Technological Leadership: Exploring the main pillars of a city’s technological framework, from digital infrastructure to the integration of autonomous services and robotics in urban life.
- Accelerating Urban Development: Sharing strategies and tools to help cities enhance their development pace and increase their appeal to investors, businesses, and residents.
- New Economic Growth Points: Highlighting flexible development mechanisms and how cities can create opportunities for the future.
- Digital Platforms: Detailing transparent and secure city management based on urban digital platforms and a new business environment driven by platform solutions.
The BRICS Urban Future Forum is a global platform that brings together influential leaders to shape the development agenda for cities worldwide. Mayor Babla will share the stage with a distinguished list of international speakers, including Sergey Sobyanin, Mayor of Moscow; Eduardo da Costa Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro; Wu Qingwen, Mayor of Suzhou; and Yanis Varoufakis, Former Finance Minister of Greece, among others.
In addition to her keynote address, Mayor Babla will also hold meetings with key Russian officials, including S. Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and the Chairman of the Business Council for Cooperation with India, to strengthen ties and explore potential collaborations.
