Chandigarh RLA Creates Record: ‘CH01-DD-0001’ Number Sold for ₹53.88 Lakh, e-Auction Fetches Historic ₹4.48 Crore

The office of the Registering & Licensing Authority (RLA), UT Chandigarh has created history by generating a record-breaking revenue through the e-auction of fancy and choice vehicle registration numbers of the new series “CH01-DD.”

The e-auction, conducted from March 4 to March 6, 2026, covered vehicle registration numbers from 0001 to 9999, along with leftover fancy and special numbers from previous series. During the auction, a total of 591 registration numbers were successfully sold.

As a result, the auction fetched an enormous revenue of ₹4,48,87,000, marking the highest revenue ever generated in the history of RLA auctions in Chandigarh.

Among the most sought-after numbers, “CH01-DD-0001” emerged as the top bid, fetching a staggering ₹53,88,000. Meanwhile, “CH01-DD-0003” secured the second highest bid of ₹32,32,000, reflecting the growing craze for premium and fancy vehicle numbers in the city.

Officials said the strong participation in the auction highlights the continued enthusiasm among vehicle owners for unique and prestigious registration numbers.

The successful auction not only set a new benchmark for the RLA Chandigarh but also significantly boosted government revenue through the digital bidding process.
