The Voice of Chandigarh : To provide efficient and user-friendly citizen services, the Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. has launched BIRBAL, an innovative Chatbot aimed at transforming citizen-centric services.
Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. formally launched the ground breaking initiative, which reaffirms the city’s commitment to leveraging technology to create seamless experiences for its residents.
While sharing about the initiative, the CEO, CSCL briefed that BIRBAL, the interactive chat-based interface, merged all major citizen services provided by the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation Chandigarh into one seamless platform. Its primary objective is to provide accurate information and guide citizens towards the appropriate resources. Through BIRBAL, citizens will have access to comprehensive information on the major services offered by the Chandigarh administration and Municipal Corporation, making it a one-stop platform for information dissemination and grievance redressal. Citizens can interact with BIRBAL using keywords, predefined questions, and even voice commands. Notably, BIRBAL incorporates features such as voice assistance, live agent support, and AI-based response updates, said the CEO.
She further said that BIRBAL enables citizens to provide suggestions and feedback directly to all services in Chandigarh, fostering continuous improvement and updates. In cases where the Chatbot cannot address specific queries, a live chat option is available for citizens to engage with dedicated support operators who will promptly provide accurate information.
The CEO said that accessible through the official CSCL website and the iamchandigarh mobile app, BIRBAL has already gained significant attention during its beta testing phase. Over 12,434 users engaged with the bot, resulting in approximately 32,000 messages exchanged.
She further said that this innovative platform will provide city residents with easy access to information and prompt assistance, making their lives more convenient. BIRBAL reflects the commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of city beautiful and its people. This Chatbot will enhance the overall citizen experience and empower them to actively participate in the development of Chandigarh, she added.
