Chandigarh Traffic Police conducted Road Safety Awareness Program

Chandigarh Traffic Police has conducted a Road Safety Awareness Program at Dr. B .R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Science Mohali Punjab. Jaswinder Singh, DSP/Traffic (Research & Development) Road Safety UT Chandigarh along-with Road Safety Awareness Team consisting of ASI Rajinder Singh, HC Jagroop Singh, Sr.Const. Rajiv & HGV Jagdamba Parshad with the help of Doctor Bhavneet Bharti Director Principal AIMS Mohali made aware of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 along with its Amendment made since 1st September 2019, Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 and Motor Vehicle Driving Regulation 2017 and approximately 100 medical students & 25 faculty members were present. Approximately 550 literature and five trophies were distributed.
Apart from the above, Road Safety Awareness on the various issues pertaining to the importance and impact of the traffic rules was imparted through lectures/videos to the medical Students / Faculty members for their own safety as well as for the safety of other road users.
- Importance of wearing proper safety headgear (helmet) of BIS standards I.S.I Mark.
- Affixing Of Reflective Tapes on Helmets for visibility during the night to other Motor Vehicles.
- Importance of wearing seat belt .
- Impact of Mobile phone usage, usage with ear plug upon pedestrian, cyclist and Motor Vehicles Drivers
- Importance of Road Signages & Road Markings and Traffic light signals
- Impact of Drunken driving.
- Importance and Impact of Lane driving and how to change lane
- Importance of rear view mirror and rear view side mirrors and mirror check after indicator and before turning Left/right or changing lane .
- Unnecessary honking and its effect.
- Importance of pedestrian Zebra crossing and how to cross the road safely etc.
- Impact of driving by Juveniles.
- They were also made aware about the law covering GOOD SMARTARIAN also.
- Stop your vehicle engine when you stop your vehicle at Red Light for ENVIRONMENT SAFETY.
- Give way To Emergency Vehicles i.e 🚑 Ambulance, Fire-Brigade& Police (PCR ) Vehicles.
- They imparted road safety awareness through lectures and video.
- A small quiz was also held and give trophies to winners i.e. Vanshika Bajaj, Arpita, Shivam, Ishika Bansal & Aarchi.
Director Principal AIMS Mohali appreciated the efforts of Chandigarh Traffic Police for making continuous endeavor to aware the road users about road safety and to make roads safe for road users through its various road safety awareness programmes.
