Chandigarh Traffic Police is observing Road Safety Week 2023 in U.T. Chandigarh from 11th January to 17th January, 2023.
During this road safety week, various road safety awareness events will be organized by Chandigarh Traffic Police. Today dated 14.01.23, Road Safety Awareness Cell (RSAC) of Chandigarh Traffic Police conducted Road Safety Awareness session at Children Traffic Park Sector 23 UT Chandigarh along with cycle safety squad conducted for 250 different category vehicles & 150 drivers and attendants of MCC, Chandigarh i.e Tractor trolley, Trucks, Crane , JCB, Garbage vehicle, water tanker and sewage cleaning Machine/ Jetting cum suction Machine etc. and for 70 Drivers/ Attendants & 2 Teacher of Sacred Heard Sr. Sec. School , Sec-26 Chandigarh and for 200 students of Class BA 1st & 2nd year alongwith 15 faculty members of Shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College SAS Nagar Mohali Punjab and a small quiz was also held on road safety and trophies were distributed to the winners students – Pro. Dr. Amandeep Kaur , Shalav Kuamr , Harsimran Kaur, Vishal Singh and Kajal students of BA 1st year. All these events were conducted on the provision of awareness about Rule 3, Rule 5(5), (14) & Rule 22 of the Motor Vehicle Driving Regulation 2017, Motor Vehicle ( Amendment ) Act 2019 and CMVR 1989 and others traffic rules and regulation was imparted to the participants for there on safety and safety on other road users. during this session 2500 Reflective Tapes ( Red/ Yellow colour) were Affixed on Municipal Corporation vehicles on left/ right and rear side for their visibility to other Motor Vehicles to avoiding collision during night time.
During this programme, they have been made aware about various road safety issues along with Impact and Importance of various important issues for their own safety as well as for the safety of other road users which is as under:-
☆ Affixing of Reflective Tapes for visibility during night to other Motor Vehicles.
☆ Impact of Mobile phone usage, usage with ear plug upon pedestrian, cyclist and Motor Vehicles Drivers
☆ Importance of Road Signages & Road Markings and Traffic light signals.
☆ Impact of Drunken driving.
☆ Importance and Impact of Lane driving and how to change lane.
☆ Importance of rear view mirror and mirror check after indicator and before turning Left/right or changing lane.
☆ Unnecessary honking and its effect.
☆ Importance of pedestrian Zebra crossing.
☆ They were also made aware about the law covering GOOD SMARTARIAN also.
☆ Stop your vehicle engine when you stop your vehicle at Red Light for ENVIRONMENT SAFETY.
☆ Give way To Emergency Vehicles i.e Ambulance, Fire-Brigade & Police (PCR) Vehicles.
Chandigarh Traffic Police appeals all the general public to obey traffic rules for their own safety and cooperate with the traffic police during the Road Safety Week to be held from 11th January to 17th January, 2023 in U.T Chandigarh.
