Chandigarh Traffic Police is observing Road Safety Week 2023

Chandigarh Traffic Police is observing Road Safety Week 2023 in U.T. Chandigarh from 11th January to 17th January, 2023. During this road safety week, various road safety awareness events will be organized by Chandigarh Traffic Police. Chandigarh Traffic Police Road Safety Awareness Cell (RSAC) conducted Road Safety Awareness session for 180 students (Class 9th & 10th) & 07 teachers of New Public School Sector 18 Chandigarh. Chandigarh Traffic Police in association with Rotary Chandigarh Midtown Club conducted a special campaign regarding importance and impact of safety headgear (HELMET) for the Two-wheeler Female Driver & Pillion rider. During this campaign (Dr. Sanjay Kalra President, Deepak Sood Public Safety Chair, Kulwinder Singh Director Public Chair, Pardeep Sisodia Director Youth Service Rotractors) of Rotary Chandigarh Midtown Club were also present and 50 HELMET for Female were distributed to the Two-wheeler Female Drivers & Pillion rider who were not wearing HELMET. The two-wheeler users were awared, motivated and encourage to always wear HELMET while driving or sitting as Pillion rider on Two-wheeler. During this drive reflective taps were also affixed upon the helmets for improving visibility.
During this session, awareness about the provisions of Rule 3, Rule 5(5), (14) & Rule 22 of the Motor Vehicle Driving these Regulation 2017, Motor Vehicle ( Amendment )Act 2019 and CMVR 1989 and others traffic rules and regulation was imparted to the participants for their safety and safety of other road users.
Further more during this programme, they have been made aware about various road safety issues along with Impact and Importance of various important issues for their own safety as well as for the safety of other road users which is as under:-
☆ Affixing of Reflective Tapes for visibility during night to other Motor Vehicles.
☆ Impact of Mobile phone usage, usage with ear plug upon pedestrian, cyclist and Motor Vehicles Drivers
☆ Importance of Road Signages & Road Markings and Traffic light signals.
☆ Impact of Drunken driving.
☆ Importance and Impact of Lane driving and how to change lane.
☆ Importance of rear view mirror and mirror check after indicator and before turning Left/right or changing lane.
☆ Unnecessary honking and its effect.
☆ Importance of pedestrian Zebra crossing.
☆ They were also made aware about the law covering GOOD SMARTARIAN also.
☆ Stop your vehicle engine when you stop your vehicle at Red Light for ENVIRONMENT SAFETY.
☆ Give way To Emergency Vehicles i.e 🚑 Ambulance, Fire-Brigade & Police (PCR) Vehicles. Chandigarh Traffic Police appeals all the general public to obey traffic rules for their own safety and cooperate with the traffic police during the Road Safety Week to be held from 11th January to 17th January, 2023 in U.T Chandigarh.
