Chief Secretary appeals children to update their biometrics in Aadhaar in order to use Aadhaar without any hassle.

The Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh Rajeev Verma chaired a meeting of the Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) at Chandigarh Secretariat attended by various department heads and directors. Emphasizing the importance of achieving 100% Aadhaar penetration across Chandigarh UT, all the Departments including banks and the Department of post were directed to activate all Aadhaar enrollment kits at the earliest and ensure optimal utilization of available resources.

During the meeting, Bhawna Garg, DDG UIDAI RO Chandigarh highlighted that special efforts are required to improve Aadhaar enrollment for children in 0-5 age group. She advised to deploy Aadhaar kits at immunization centers for this purpose.The Health Department and Department of WCD may collaborate to facilitate Aadhaar enrollment for children under five years, ensuring their complete coverage. She emphasized that the school education department needs to devise a comprehensive action plan to identify children requiring Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBUs) at the age of 5 and 15. This will enable students’ seamless access to future government schemes, scholarships, and other educational benefits.

The Chief Secretary directed that Camps should be organized in all government and private schools to ensure easy access to Aadhaar services for students.

He also emphasized on popularization of M-Aadhaar Application and My-Aadhaar Portal for availing various Aadhaar related services. Awareness campaign by the School Education Department need be carried out to encourage parents and guardians for Mandatory Biometric Update of their children.
He also directed all the departments of Chandigarh UT to ensure Aadhaar based authentication of beneficiaries of various services offered at E-Sampark Centers and other offices. He further directed that Aadhaar based face authentication attendance system to be deployed across all government departments.
