Congress March to expose BJP’s vote theft
The Voice of Chandigarh
Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee organized a massive candle march at Sector 42, Chandigarh as part of Congress Party’s nationwide movement to expose the widespread electoral malpractices and vote theft being perpetrated by the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The march was attended by hundreds of Congress workers who enthusiastically came out on the streets of the city carrying tricolours, candles and placards and shouting slogans of “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhor”.
The protest was aimed at sending a strong message to the Election Commission that it should not dare to destroy democracy in the country. Chandigarh Congress has demanded resignation of the Modi government and the state governments of Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra which have been accused of serious vote theft during the elections. The Modi government’s credibility has fallen badly after the shocking revelations of massive fraud in the voter lists by the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and these governments do not enjoy public support.
The candle march was led by Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari and Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee President H.S. Lucky. The event was managed by District Congress Committee, Urban 2 President and Senior Deputy Mayor of Chandigarh Jasbir Singh Bunty.
Speaking at the protest, Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari said:
“The revelations made by Rahul Gandhi have shaken the public’s faith in the Election Commission. When an institution, which is responsible for conducting fair elections and protecting democracy, is seen sitting in the lap of the BJP, it becomes the duty of every citizen to stand up to protect democracy.” He said that the Congress party will not rest until transparency and professional integrity is ensured in the functioning of the Election Commission, and the truth about vote rigging in the 2024 elections is exposed.
Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee President H.S. Lucky said,
“The Election Commission is the guardian of our democratic system. If it fails in its role, democracy itself will collapse.” He said the Chandigarh Congress demands transparency, integrity and accountability from the Election Commission. He further said that the people of India deserve a free, fair and fearless electoral process—and we will fight to protect this right.
The Chandigarh Congress asserted that this march is just the beginning of a larger struggle to protect democracy in the country. The party reiterated its resolve to protect constitutional values, safeguard electoral integrity and stand against any kind of tampering with the will of the people.
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Congress today welcomed the directions given by the Supreme Court to the Election Commission during the hearing of several petitions challenging the special deep revision of Bihar voter lists. Chandigarh Congress Chief Spokesperson Rajiv Sharma said that the preliminary draft list of registered voters and the clear instructions to publish the names of 65 lakh voters deleted from the voter list within the next 48 hours is a step in the right direction. He also welcomed the interim order of the Supreme Court, which directed to accept Aadhaar card as an acceptable document for inclusion of 65 lakh deleted voters in the voter list.
