Cyber Crime Investigation Cell of Chandigarh Police achieved a major success in fraud case

Cyber Crime Investigation Cell, Chandigarh Police has achieved a Major success in the arrest of accused for committing fraud with the complainant for updating the KYC of the SIM. To work out the case SP/CCIC formed a special team of CCIC under the supervision of DSP/CCIC headed by Inspector Hariom Sharma, Incharge/CCIC in Case FIR No.24 dated 02.02.2022 U/S 419, 420, 120-B IPC PS-36, to apprehend the criminals involved in cheating and fraud of Rs.9,99,000/-.
The case was registered in which the caller asked the complainant to complete the KYC of his Airtel Sim otherwise his Sim service will be suspended. On this the caller, asked the complainant to install any desk app on his mobile phone for the purpose for updating the KYC. On installing the said app caller asked the complainant to pay Rs. 10/- as updating fee through his debit card. As per caller the transaction of Rs. 10/- which got successful and same time certain amount got deducted from the account of the complainant. Thereafter complainant got a call from SBI customer care who asked him to send a SBI quick support app file, which was downloaded by the son of complainant.
When complainant checked his account for Bank there was total loss of Rs. 9,99,000/-, which was debited from his account. During the course of investigation, on 12.2.2022 accused Mohd Misbahu Haque S/o Mohd Rafi R/o Near Shershah Masjid, Bakshi Maidan Patna Aged-21 Yrs. and Kunal Singh S/o Ram Preet Singh R/o Bundal Toli Raj Putana Tala near Shiv Mandir Patna City, aged-27 years have been arrested from Patna Bihar. After the arrest the transit remand of the accused was taken from Patna Court up to 15.02.2022. Further the both accused will be produced in the court at Chandigarh for further investigation.
