The Voice of Chandigarh News : The Department of Tourism, Chandigarh Administration celebrated Lohri Festival with Divyangjans as well as other girls at Snehalya/Ashiana Children’s Home for Girls, Sector 15C, Chandigarh with a lot of enthusiasm.
Dr. Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the event.
The function started with traditional welcome of Chief Guest with Punjabi Boliyaan, Dholi, bugchu, sarangi, algozey and Punjabi Folk Songs. It was a gala day for the Divyangjans as well as other children of Snehalya/Ashiana Children Home for Girls, Sector 15C, Chandigarh. The bonfire, a key feature of Lohri was kept alight throughout the celebration, lighting up the spirit of joy, happiness and togetherness.
Divyangjans and Children from Snehalya/Ashiana performed and showcase their talent. Hearing impaired children also perfomed bhangra. All the divyangjans and other children enjoyed alot.
The magician was also invited who showcased some magic tricks to the children which was enjoyed alot by everyone. During magic show a dove was released by Hon’ble Chief Guest.
Dr. Dharampal, IAS Adviser to Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh gave speech wherein he said that it was amazed to see the enthusiasm of children. He congratulated the instructors who made the children so well that it was not even judged that they have any kind of disability. He also motivated children then they have ability more than anyone and god have gifted them special ability. Special Children have requested for a trip for which the Chief Guest gifted them and asked Tourism Department to organise the same.

Chandigarh said that he is overwhelmed to celebrate Lohri with Divyangjans and other children and distributed School Bags with Notebook, Geometry Box, Pencil, Eraser, sharpener etc. to the Divyangjans and to other girls to make the occasion special for the children of Snehalya/Ashiana Children’s Home for Girls, Sector 15C, Chandigarh. The officials of Snehalya/Ashiana Children’s Home for Girls thanked Adviser to the Administrator and Tourism Department for celebrating the Lohri with the children and making the day special. Ms. Palika Arora, PCS Director Social Welfare also witnessed the event.
Hargunjit Kaur, IAS, Secretary-cum-Director Tourism, Chandigarh said that the Tourism Department endeavours to promote not only tourist spots but also the cultural and festive traditions of the City Beautiful.
