District Disaster Management Authority Enhances Emergency Preparedness in Key Meeting
The Voice of Chandigarh: The Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (D.D.M.A.) chaired a crucial meeting at D.C. Office, Sector 17, Chandigarh attended by key stakeholders, including the Mayor, Senior Superintendent of Police, Director of Health Services, Chief Engineer, Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, and senior officers from various departments such as Chandigarh Police, Municipal Corporation, Home Guards, Health Department, Social Welfare, Fire & Rescue Services, Finance Department, and Engineering Department.
The meeting focused on vital updates to the Disaster Management Plan of U.T. Chandigarh. Key discussions included:
Updations to the Disaster Management Plan: Review and necessary amendments to ensure the plan is robust and effective in addressing potential disasters.
Constitution of State Disaster Response Force: Steps towards forming a dedicated force to enhance the state’s disaster response capabilities.
Deployment of Aapda Mitra Volunteers: Planning the involvement of trained volunteers in mock drills and immediate response activities to ensure swift action during emergencies.
Comprehensive Departmental Plans Preparation of detailed plans by various departments to address and mitigate potential disasters effectively.
The next meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority is scheduled for the third quarter of the current financial year.
