Exciting Finals Await at the Allengers Gully Cricket Tournament
The Voice of Chandigarh: Team No. 2 will face Team No. 203 in the final of the Allengers Gully Cricket Tournament, organized by the UT Cricket Association and Chandigarh Police. In the girls’ category, Team No. 3 will go up against Team No. 35 in the final showdown.
Men’s Category:
In a thrilling semi final held at the Police Lines Ground, Sector 26, Team No. 2 triumphed over Team No. 84 by 19 runs. Team No. 2, batting first, scored 56 runs with Suraj Kumar leading the charge with 19 runs. Chetan was the standout bowler with three crucial wickets. Team No. 84, in their response, could only manage 37/7. Shubham Yadav top-scored with 20 runs, while Shivam also took three wickets.
In the second semifinal, Team No. 203 defeated Team No. 149 by 24 runs. Team No. 203, batting first, was all out for 60 runs, with skipper Kuldeep Sonkar scoring the highest 18 runs. Kavya was a key player for Team No. 149 with four wickets. Chasing the target, Team No. 149 was restricted to 36/7, with Vardaan claiming three wickets.
Girls’ Category:
In the girls’ first semifinal at Government High School, Sector 19, Team No. 3, led by Aditi Sheoran, cruised to a nine-wicket victory over Team No. 14. Team No. 14, batting first, scored just 31/6. Aditi and captain Hazel Arora each took two wickets. Team No. 3 chased down the target easily, with Aditi remaining unbeaten on 16 and leading her team to victory in the sixth over.
In the second semifinal, Team No. 35 emerged victorious over Team No. 36 by 37 runs. Team No. 35 set a target of 71/6, with skipper Aditya Kadian contributing a solid 33 runs. In reply, despite a brilliant run in the tournament, Team No. 36’s captain Tayesha Manchanda fell short, scoring only nine runs. The team was ultimately restricted to 34/6.
Semi Finals Chief Guests and Attendees:
- Shipra Bansal: Chairperson of the CCPCR (Chandigarh Child Protection and Care Resource), Mahima Tandon, Coach Baiji and Chintan Bajaj (Venue Manager). These distinguished guests were present during the tournament’s semifinals, adding to the event’s significance and prestige.
The finals for both categories will be held at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Sunday, followed by the closing ceremony at the Cricket Stadium, Sector 16. The event will be graced by prominent figures including Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, former Test cricketer Kapil Dev, and Ashok Malhotra.
