Firefly Commences Inaugural Flight from Penang to Bangkok

Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), proudly marked the commencement of its maiden flight from its jet operations’ hub, Penang International Airport (PEN), to Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok via flight FY3632 that departed at 4:00pm.
A send-off and welcoming ceremony was held at PEN, attended by Ooi Chok Yan, Chief Executive Officer of Penang Global Tourism, Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines (MAG), Captain Hamdan Che Ismail, Chief Operating Officer of Firefly, and senior officials from MAG and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).
To commemorate the momentous occasion, departing passengers received special goodies at the gate prior to their departure to DMK which landed in Bangkok at 3:50PM local time. The return leg, flight FY3633 safely arrived back in PEN at 8:50pm, where passengers were greeted to a water salute and special kompang performance upon arrival.

This new route will operate five times weekly, utilising the airline’s retrofitted Boeing 737-800 aircraft equipped with 189 seats in Economy Class and features ergonomic seats and legroom, personal device holder, and USB type A and C power outlets for guests to charge their devices from the comfort of their seat.
