India and Spain are set to take centre stage at FITUR 2026, one of the world’s leading international tourism trade fairs, scheduled to be held from January 21 to 25, 2026, at IFEMA Madrid. The event is expected to serve as a major platform for strengthening bilateral tourism ties and expanding global cultural and business collaborations between the two countries.

At FITUR 2026, Spain will highlight its leadership in sustainable, inclusive and accessible tourism, with a strong focus on innovation, digital transformation and responsible travel. Special initiatives such as accessible tourism programmes and smart destination models will be showcased, reinforcing Spain’s position as a global tourism leader.

India will mark a significantly enhanced presence at the fair, led by the Ministry of Tourism along with participation from several state tourism boards and leading travel industry stakeholders. Indian pavilions will promote the country’s diverse offerings, including heritage tourism, spiritual and pilgrimage circuits, wellness and yoga tourism, wildlife experiences, adventure travel and luxury destinations.

The spotlight on India and Spain at FITUR 2026 reflects growing two-way tourism interest, with India emerging as an important source market for Spain, while Spain continues to attract Indian outbound travellers seeking cultural, leisure and experiential tourism. The event will also facilitate B2B meetings aimed at developing new travel products, improving air connectivity, and boosting tourist flows between Europe and India.

Tourism experts view FITUR 2026 as a strategic opportunity to deepen India–Spain tourism cooperation, promote cultural exchange, and unlock new business prospects for tour operators, hospitality brands and destination managers.

With sustainability, innovation and cultural connectivity as its core themes, FITUR 2026 is expected to play a key role in shaping the future of global tourism, with India and Spain firmly in the international spotlight.
