Governor distributed school kits to 656 needy and meritorious students
The Voice of Chandigarh News: A total of 656 needy and meritorious students were benefitted with school kits during a function – ‘Saksharta 2023’ organized by Bharat Vikas Parishad at Tagore Theatre on Wednesday. His Excellency Governor of Punjab & UT Administrator Banwari Lal Purohit who graced the occasion distributed the school kits to beneficiaries in the presence of Anoop Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh, Purva Garg (IAS), Secretary, UT Education Department, Suresh Sharma, CMD, Allengers Group, Suresh Jain, National General Secretary, BVP and PK Sharma, Printiya Pramukh, BVP.
Under this program, beneficiaries of 77 Govt schools have been covered which includes 417 girls and 239 were boys.
In his address, His Excellency, Governor Banwari Lal Purohit emphasized that joint efforts will make India ‘Vishwa Guru’ (World Leader) wherein strong educational foundations of youth and children is vital. While appreciating the efforts of Bharat Vikas Parishad, he called upon the people to keep strengthening this nationwide campaign for the upliftment of the society.
Earlier, Ajay Dutta, National Chairman (Sewa) welcomed the guests and apprised them about the activities of the BVP, Chandigarh. Ashok Kumar Goyal, Director, Saksharta 2023 in his deliverable informed that this program was initiated in 1987 to empower needy and meritorious students with books, uniforms, bags, stationary and other forms of study material and nearly 20,000 students are benefited under this program so far.
