Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Inaugurates Chandigarh Golf League 2024 at Chandigarh Golf Club

The Chandigarh Golf Club was the venue for a grand opening as Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, inaugurated the ‘Homeland presents Rummy Passion Chandigarh Golf League 2024’. The event commenced with a warm reception from Club President Mr. Ravibir Singh, who guided the Governor through the ceremony, culminating in the cutting of the ribbon to mark the official start of the League.
In a notable highlight, Governor Kataria presented Ayushman Bharat Cards to the Club’s Caddy Master, showcasing a significant welfare initiative by the Club under the National Ayushman Bharat Scheme. The Governor expressed his appreciation for the Club’s efforts in supporting its staff and caddies and lauded the excellent facilities provided to members.
The opening matches delivered exciting and competitive golf action:
- Pirates of the Greens secured a 4.5-2.5 victory over debutants Seven Iron, with Pirates’ co-owner Gaurav Talwar achieving a commanding 7&6 win in the opening singles match.
- Swinging Samurai lived up to their name with a 4.5-2.5 win against the Ninjas. Despite a standout hole-in-one by Tarun Ghai, the Samurai’s dominance in the fourball games proved decisive.
- In a significant upset, the Netsmartz Tigers defeated the defending champions Captain’s 18 with a 5-2 score. Notably, Sangram Singh and Uday Talwar delivered a resounding 8&6 win in the anchor game.
- The Cee Dee The Mulligans narrowly defeated the Moksha Royals 4-3 in a thrilling encounter. Key performances included Virain Khosla’s 6&4 singles win and a decisive final game victory by Angad Sangha & Parvinder Singh Pruthi.
