Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya inaugurates the 75 Lakh Surya Namaskar campaign
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya inaugurated the 75 Lakh Surya Namaskar campaign organized jointly by AYUSH, Education and Sports Departments, Haryana Yoga Commission and ITBP at BTC Bhanu Primary Training Centre, which will continue till February 15, 2023. The program started with Surya Namaskar done 13 times by ITBP jawans and yoga practitioners.
Addressing ITBP jawans and yoga practitioners, Dattatraya said that yoga is an invaluable medicine that does not only provide health without any cost but also strengthens the body and increases one’s self-confidence.
He said that the eight sutras of Ashtanga Yoga are Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. Suryanamaskar has its own importance in the posture of Ashtanga Yoga, he said.
Suryanamaskar is a complete practice in itself. Surya Namaskar is useful for women, men, children, young and old and for all. Those who do Surya Namaskar daily, their age, wisdom, strength, semen and sharpness increase, added Shri Dattatraya.
The Governor said that it is a matter of pride that for better health and ideal lifestyle of the people of the country and the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared June 21 as the International Yoga Day in the United Nations.
Since 2015, the whole world has been celebrating this day as Yoga Day. He lauded Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal for the efforts being made to take yoga to every household in the state. He said that the Haryana government is setting up gymnasiums to take yoga to every village.
Dattatraya said that yoga is very beneficial for the military forces. The soldiers have to work in very difficult conditions in difficult places. In such a situation, it is very important to maintain a balanced physical and mental state.
He said that the soldiers of the army and paramilitary forces have always gone ahead to protect the country and have soured the teeth of the enemy. In matters of internal security of the country, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has always worked at the forefront, he said.
He expressed confidence that this Suryanamaskar program will boost the morale of all police force personnel and strengthen the Prime Minister’s Fit India programme. He said that yoga would prove to be a milestone in the security of the country and the state.
On this occasion, Shri Dattatraya also honoured the representatives of 11 institutions including government departments for their commendable contribution in the 75 crore Surya Namaskar program in the year 2022.
Apart from this, he also released a souvenir based on the Role of Yoga and Naturopathy in Management of Metabolic Disorders. He also inspected the training being imparted to ITBP jawans and interacted with the trainers. He also inspected the training and performance of the dog squad of the ITBP.
Dattatraya congratulated Inspector General, ITBP, Ishwar Singh Duhan for including Yoga and Suryanamaskar in the training of ITBP personnel.
Haryana Yoga Commission Chairman Jaideep Arya, Deputy Commissioner Mahavir Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sumer Pratap Singh, Registrar of Haryana Yoga Commission Dr Harishchandra, Project Director Priyanka, Tehsildar Punyadeep Sharma, District Ayurveda Officer Dr Dilip Mishra, Swami Sampurnanand Arya and ITBP jawans and yoga seekers among others were present on the occasion.
