Hyatt Appoints Vikas Chawla as President for India & Southwest Asia Amid Strong Expansion Drive

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has appointed Vikas Chawla as President – India & Southwest Asia, a newly created senior role with immediate effect to lead its expanding business in the region.

The appointment comes at a time when Hyatt is witnessing strong growth momentum in India, with nearly 5,000 rooms added to its development pipeline in 2025.

With over 30 years of global experience, Chawla will be responsible for driving Hyatt’s overall strategy, growth, and performance across India and Southwest Asia. He will report to David Udell, Group President, Asia Pacific.

Hyatt currently operates 55 hotels across nine brands in the region and is further expanding into key metro cities as well as emerging travel destinations.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Vikas Chawla said he looks forward to strengthening Hyatt’s presence and making it a preferred hospitality brand for travelers in India.

The appointment reflects Hyatt’s strong focus on India as a key growth market, supported by rising demand for premium travel, luxury experiences, and lifestyle hospitality offerings.
