Inaugural Session of POSHAN Pakhwada 2024 and Extension of POSHAN Membership Scheme

The Voice of Chandigarh: The grand inauguration ceremony of the POSHAN Pakhwada 2024, aimed at promoting nutrition and eradicating malnutrition, commenced at Tagore Theatre ,Chandigarh with esteemed guests including Hon’ble Member Parliament, Kirron Kher, Adviser to the Administrator Rajeev Verma, and Home Secretary Nitin Kumar Yadav.

Member Parliament, Mrs. Kirron Kher, extended the POSHAN Membership Scheme for FY 2024-25, reaffirming the commitment to a healthier UT Chandigarh. She also launched POSHAN Pakhwada 2024, which aims to raise awareness about nutrition among all sections of the population, emphasizing collaborative efforts to eradicate malnutrition.

This nutritional intervention program, initiated under the Anemia Free Campaign from September 2023 to December 2023, witnessed significant improvements in members’ hemoglobin levels, showcasing a reduction in malnutrition.The event recognized the efforts of various stakeholders, including NGOs and individuals, who contributed to the success of the POSHAN Membership Scheme. Awards were presented to beneficiaries and NGOs for their outstanding performance in combating malnutrition at the grassroots level.

In addition to acknowledging achievements, the event marked the inauguration of the distribution of new Growth Monitoring Devices and Smart Phones for Anganwadi Workers, further enhancing the infrastructure for nutritional monitoring and outreach.

The fortnight-long program will focus on three key themes: Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi, Traditional and Local dietary practices, and Health of pregnant women & IYCF (Infant & Young Child Feeding Practices).
