India Calls for Restraint in Iran–Gulf Tensions, Urges Protection of Civilians

India has expressed deep concern over the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region, calling upon all sides to exercise maximum restraint and prevent further escalation.

In an official statement issued, the Government of India emphasized that the safety and security of civilians must remain the foremost priority amid rising tensions. It underscored that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable paths to de-escalation and urged stakeholders to address underlying issues through peaceful means.

The statement further stressed that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected, reaffirming India’s consistent position on adherence to international norms.

India’s Missions in the region are actively engaging with Indian nationals and have issued appropriate advisories. Citizens have been advised to remain vigilant, stay in regular contact with the Indian Missions, and strictly follow local security guidance.

The government reiterated that it is closely monitoring the situation and remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of Indian nationals in the region.
