India Recalls High Commissioner from Canada Amid Heightened Diplomatic Tensions
The Voice of Chandigarh:
In a dramatic escalation of diplomatic tensions, India has recalled its High Commissioner and several diplomats from Canada, citing serious concerns about their safety. The decision was conveyed to the Canadian Charge d’Affaires, who was summoned by the Ministry of External Affairs earlier today.
India expressed strong dissatisfaction with what it described as the unjustified targeting of its diplomats and officials in Canada. The government accused the Trudeau administration of fostering an environment of extremism and violence, which it claimed posed a direct threat to its diplomatic staff.
Stating that it has lost confidence in Canada’s ability to ensure the safety of its diplomats, India announced the withdrawal of key personnel. The government also warned that it may take additional measures in response to what it perceives as Canadian support for extremism, violence, and separatist activities aimed at India.
This development marks a sharp downturn in bilateral relations, with further retaliatory steps potentially on the horizon.
