Justice Alok Jain Administers Oath to 454 New Advocates at Convocation Ceremony of Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana

In a significant milestone for the legal fraternity, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Alok Jain, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, graced the convocation ceremony organized by the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana at Law Bhawan, Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest, where he administered the oath and distributed enrolment certificates to 454 newly enrolled advocates.
In his address, Justice Jain congratulated the young lawyers and motivated them to uphold the dignity of the legal profession, encouraging them to strive for excellence and to be torchbearers of justice rather than becoming a “rogue group.” He urged the new entrants to serve society with integrity and avoid shortcuts in their professional journey.
Rakesh Gupta, Chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, extended a warm welcome and expressed his gratitude to Justice Jain. He reminded the new advocates of the importance of maintaining the nobility, dignity, and integrity of the legal profession.
The event was also graced by Suvir Sidhu, Member, Bar Council of India; Surinder Dutt Sharma, Hony Secretary; Gurtej Singh Grewal, Chairman, Election Committee (Punjab); Raj Kumar Chauhaan, Secretary, Monitoring Committee; Chetan Verma, MBC; Ajay Chaudhary, Member, Enrolment Committee; Harpreet Singh Multani, Member, Privilege Committee, among other dignitaries, advocates, and proud parents and guardians of the newly enrolled lawyers from Punjab, Haryana, and UT Chandigarh.
Justice Jain, who began his practice in 1999, served as Senior Panel Counsel for the Union of India in 2014 and was empanelled with PGIMER, Chandigarh. He was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on August 16, 2022, and later as a permanent Judge on September 28, 2023.
The convocation marks a momentous occasion, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for the 454 advocates who now embark on their professional journey. The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, established under the Advocates Act, 1961, now has over 1.57 lakh advocates on its rolls, continuing its legacy of nurturing legal talent and upholding justice.
