Justice V. Ramasubramanian Assumes Charge as NHRC Chief

Former Supreme Court judge V. Ramasubramanian has been appointed as the new chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the rights panel announced.
The post had been vacant since June 1, following the completion of Justice (retd) Arun Kumar Mishra’s tenure. Justice Ramasubramanian, known for his extensive legal experience, will now lead the NHRC in its mission to safeguard and promote human rights across India.
The NHRC, an autonomous body established in 1993, is tasked with investigating human rights violations and recommending corrective actions. Ramasubramanian’s appointment comes at a critical time as the Commission continues to play a vital role in addressing human rights concerns in the country.
