LEGENDARY CRICKETER BISHAN SINGH BEDI PASSES AWAY
The Voice of Chandigarh : Bishan Singh Bedi, one of India’s greatest cricketers, died on October 23, 2023, at the age of 77.
Bedi was born on September 25, 1946, in Amritsar, India. He made his Test debut for India in 1967 and went on to play 67 Tests, taking 266 wickets. He was also a prolific run-scorer, scoring over 1,000 Test runs.
Bedi was known for his slow left-arm orthodox bowling and his sharp cricketing brain. He was also a very good fielder, especially at slip. He was a key member of the Indian team that won the 1971 series against England and the 1972-73 series against West Indies.
Bedi was also a successful captain. He led India to victory in the 1974-75 series against England. He was also a popular commentator and analyst after his retirement from cricket.
Bedi’s death is a big loss to the cricketing world. He was a true legend of the game.
