LUXURY YASAWA ISLAND RESORT & SPA, FIJI ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF MILLION-DOLLAR RENOVATION OF ONE-ISLAND RESORT ON 7,000 ACRES

The Voice of Chan

With only 18 spacious bungalows, a small group of Fijian villagers as its neighbors, and 30 minutes by private air transfer from Nadi International Airport, the secluded Resort has reasons to celebrate with a stunning new renovation of its public space as well as the exterior/interior of villas.

“We are also pleased to share that the Resort is in the process of obtaining its EarthCheck certification,” says Erin McCann.  EarthCheck’s certifications are a badge of honor given to hotels/resorts and tourism businesses, based on the brand’s ability to live up to their social corporate responsibility, show that they care for the people around them, and enhance their overall ecological sustainability, according to Erin McCann.

In keeping with the Resort’s original authentic Fijian design and natural elements, the renovation spotlights an eye toward sustainability with a newly refurbished main complex with a fountain made of natural stone, and indigenous granite that will enhance the entrance driveway and lobby arrival area. Interior enhancements include sleek teak furniture, accompanied by large decorative hanging lights fashioned with straw and rattan in the restaurant and bar, and energy-efficient lighting integrated throughout the resort.

For its accommodations, the resort sourced locally produced cinnamon wood to enhance the elegant pergolas in all 18 bungalows and in the Lomalagi (Fijian word for “heaven”) honeymoon bure.  Fijian Vesi hardwood, native to Fiji, is also being used for its guest room decks, and each accommodation is being re-thatched using grass derived from the Island.

The interior guest rooms will showcase large stone-like ceramic tile, handsome teak wood furniture, and hanging pendant-style lighting crafted with rattan.

ABOUT YASAWA ISLAND RESORT & SPA, FIJI

From the distinctive contemporary Fijian style bungalows fashioned with palm-thatched roofs, plantation shutters, an expansive sun deck, a private beach hut on the edge of the sands, and a personal hammock, the luxurious one-island resort evokes “life as it is meant to be,” an experience that rejuvenates the senses and stirs the soul.  The one-island resort boasts 18 luxury bungalows hidden among luscious tropical greenery, each only a few steps from a pristine white-sand beach.

The all-inclusive resort serves gourmet contemporary cuisine with a choice of dining at an al fresco main dining complex with a 180-degree view of the ocean, beachside, at the horizon pool, or in the privacy of one’s very own beach hut.   The chef emphasizes “fresh” whether it is from the garden or ocean. The poolside Manasa’s Bar, named after a long-time resort employee, serves signature cocktails from dawn to dusk.

For the ultimate in relaxation, the full-service Baravi Spa offers ocean-view massages and is well known for its Baravi Rhythm, four-handed synchronized massage, where therapists perform this signature favorite in tandem with the waves of the ocean.  Hot rock therapies use black volcanic pebbles to reflect the fiery rift that created the island.

On land and at sea, a multitude of complimentary resort activities provide something for everyone.  Guests enjoy swimming in the crystal waters of the famous Sawa-I-Lau Caves, snorkeling among vivid corals and tropical fish, sea kayaking, boating on a catamaran, deep sea fishing, stand-up paddle boarding, and windsurfing. Back on shore, they enjoy tennis, volleyball hiking, and rugby matches.

For the adventurous visitor, there is deep sea fishing and PADI scuba diving available for an additional charge.

A favorite pastime of many guests is a complimentary picnic on one of 11 white sandy beaches, a visit to Bukama Village, where travelers can meet the chief, partake in a kava ceremony (the ceremonial drink of Fiji), hear the school choir sing, partake in a lovo feast, witness a meke performance (the ceremonial dance of Fiji) and attend a Sunday church service.

Celebrated for its pristine location, Yasawa Island Resort & Spa has offered guests from around the globe unique, authentic, and enriching travel experiences.

Upon arrival in Nadi Fiji International Airport, the Resort is a 30 minute flight (inaccessible to other travelers) from Nadi International Airport and is reached via the Resort’s private airstrip.
