Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla Launches Road Revamp in Sector 40; Assures Quality and Strategic Infrastructure Overhaul
The Voice of Chandigarh
Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla today officially kickstarted the re-carpeting work for the roads in Sector 40, reaffirming the Municipal Corporation’s strong commitment to providing high-quality infrastructure across the city.
The project inauguration took place in the presence of area Councillor Gurbax Rawat and numerous enthusiastic residents. The community turnout demonstrated the local importance of the work, which will address the dilapidated state of the roads that had not seen maintenance for several years.
Residents expressed profound appreciation to the Mayor and the Municipal Corporation for initiating the project. “We are very grateful to Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla and Councillor Gurbax Rawat. After many years, the work to improve our roads has finally begun, and we appreciate the Mayor’s swift action,” commented a resident representative at the site.
Commitment to Quality and Comprehensive Revamp
Addressing the residents, Mayor Babla focused on the Municipal Corporation’s mandate to ensure durability and excellence in all construction.
“We are not just laying asphalt; we are building infrastructure for the future of the ‘City Beautiful.’ I personally ensure that top-tier, quality re-carpeting work will be done on these stretches,” stated Mayor Babla. “Our commitment is clear: to strategically and effectively revamp the roads of Chandigarh and enhance the quality of life for every citizen.”
The Mayor also clarified the Municipal Corporation’s comprehensive strategy for road maintenance across the city: “For strategic efficiency, the V3 roads (sector-dividing stretches) have been transferred to the Chandigarh Administration for repair. This allows the Municipal Corporation to sharpen its focus and deploy all resources on the internal sector roads—the V4, V5, and V6 category roads—to ensure their timely and thorough completion. The MC is fully dedicated to covering every stretch under our jurisdiction.”
The re-carpeting in Sector 40 marks the beginning of a wide-ranging schedule of infrastructure projects planned by the Municipal Corporation in the current fiscal cycle.
