Mayor of Chandigarh, Harpreet Kaur Babla met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the pressing financial crisis faced by the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh. During the meeting, the Mayor apprised the Home Minister of the corporation’s financial constraints, highlighting the urgent need for additional support to ensure the smooth functioning of essential civic services.

The Mayor emphasized that Chandigarh, as a Union Territory, relies on grants from the central government for infrastructure development, sanitation, and public welfare projects. Given the increasing demands of the city and the current financial limitations, immediate intervention is necessary to sustain the quality of services provided to residents.

Amit Shah gave a patient hearing to the concerns and assured the Mayor of his commitment to resolving the financial challenges. He acknowledged the importance of Chandigarh’s civic administration and assured that the matter would be reviewed with due priority.
