Meeting of Governing Body of State AYUSH Society Chandigarh National AYUSH Mission held
The Voice of Chandigarh News: A meeting of the Governing Body of State AYUSH Society, U.T. Chandigarh, National AYUSH Mission was held under the Chairmanship of Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh. The meeting was held to apprise the Governing body about the status of approvals of State Annual Action Plan (SAAP) 2022-23 by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, so that, the activities mentioned in SAAP may be implemented in a time bound manner.
After detailed deliberations, Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh decided that:
- In addition to the currently running 42 yoga centres in Health & Wellness Centres (HWCs) in Chandigarh, 8 new yoga centres to be started at Community Centres in coordination with Municipal Corporation. Further, the yoga activities should be conducted in the early hours of the morning both at Community Centres and at the Health & Wellness Centres in U.T. Chandigarh.
- Under the School Health Programme, the Yoga services currently operational in 50 schools to be extended to all Government schools in coordination with Education Department and a monitoring team to monitor these activities in collaboration with Government College of Yoga, Sector 23, Chandigarh. A proposal in this regard should also be sent to Ministry of AYUSH, GoI.
- Efforts should be made to start 6 new AYUSH HWCs in co-location with UHWCs in co-ordination with Health Department for public convenience. It will facilitate options to the public to get benefits of both Allopathic and AYUSH at one place.
- Panchkarma centre at AYUSH HWC, Sector 37 should be upgraded as a model Panchkarma Centre.
- The following new AYUSH Public Health Programmes etc. are being introduced in U.T. Chandigarh within the current financial year:
- Karunya (AYUSH Palliative Services)
- VAYOMITRA (AYUSH Geriatric Health Care Services),
- SUPRAJA (AYUSH Maternal & Neo-natal Intervention),
- AYURVIDYA promotion of Healthy Lifestyle through AYUSH for school children in 300 schools,
- National Program for Prevention and Management of Osteoarthritis & other Musculoskeletal Disorders.
