Meeting on Enhancing Tourism in Chandigarh

Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Tourism, U.T., Chandigarh, held a meeting with the Hotel, Hospitality and Restaurant Associations and key hotel representatives to discuss strategies for boosting tourism and hotel occupancy in the city. The discussion was focused on developing Chandigarh as a tourist hub.

It was decided to re-engineer the tourism website and social media platforms to showcase city events and other activities happening in the city. The Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Tourism, Chandigarh assured support for initiatives, including local tourism exhibitions and improving city branding. He emphasized that the government is keen to collaborate with tourism related stakeholders to strengthen Chandigarh’s tourism sector to increase the tourist footfall both domestic as well as International.

The Secretary Tourism, assured that regular meetings would be held to work closely with them for the city’s development. The hotel stakeholders welcomed and appreciated the initiative of the department to include stakeholders and their suggestions which may benefit the City. They assured that they will get back within a fortnight with various suggestions on how to collaborate with the Chandigarh Administration to promote tourism. They further opined that the administration must proactively engage with international as well as national entities to facilitate greater movement of tourists to Chandigarh. The Secretary Tourism, assured that the Tourism Department will work with stakeholders to enhance Chandigarh’s appeal as a prime tourist destination.
