National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India Stands United in Demanding Justice for Tragic Incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital

The Voice of Chandigarh:

The members of the National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India have pledged their support for the ongoing nationwide protests following the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. In a show of solidarity, they organized a candlelight march at Plaza Sector 17, to honor the victims and demand justice.

Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, President of the National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India, stated, “Crimes like these have repeatedly shaken our nation, yet meaningful action remains absent. It’s time to reform our justice system to ensure that culprits are punished in a way that sets a strong precedent, deterring others from committing such heinous acts.”

He emphasized that this incident has sent shockwaves across the country, instilling a deep sense of insecurity among the medical community and women throughout India. “We stand united in the call for justice and urge the Hon’ble Prime Minister to enact a law that mandates the death penalty for such crimes without delay, as it seems to be the only fitting punishment for such culprits” he added.

Prominent members present at the protest included Anil Vohra, Sheetal Negi, Naresh Bansal, Rajan Mahajan, Tarlok Singh, Harjit Singh, Vikas Batta, Manav Bedi, RK Sharma, Navdeep Sharma, Kripal Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Rajinder Nath, Saral Bholla, Dheeraj Wadera, Prem Kumar Dhall, Jaspal Singh and others.
