The Bharatiya Janata Party–led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) announced Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan as its official candidate for the upcoming Vice-President of India election, scheduled on September 9, 2025.

BJP National President J.P. Nadda made the announcement, highlighting Radhakrishnan’s long political career, deep organizational experience, and commitment to public service.

C.P. Radhakrishnan, currently serving as the Governor of Maharashtra, has been chosen by the NDA as its Vice-Presidential candidate. A veteran BJP leader and two-time MP from Coimbatore with strong RSS roots, he earlier served as Governor of Jharkhand and briefly held additional charge of Telangana and Puducherry. Known for his simplicity, administrative experience, and long political career, Radhakrishnan brings both organizational strength and governance expertise to the NDA’s ticket.

The Vice-Presidential post fell vacant after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned on July 21, 2025, citing health reasons. With this announcement, the NDA has entered the poll battle with a seasoned leader carrying both political and administrative experience.
