Record COVID Vaccination in UT Chandigarh

The targeted population for vaccination in UT Chandigarh is as under:
• Adult persons (18 years and above)- 8,43,000
• Children in the age group of 15 years to 18 years- 72,000

Since start of the COVID Vaccination last year, the today’s vaccination is the highest in a day. Today the UT Chandigarh administered 14,627 COVID Vaccination which include:
• COVISHIELD to Adult Persons- 10312
• COVAXIN to Children in the age group of 15 years to 18 years- 4315

Previously the highest COVID vaccination was recorded as 14618 on 14.08.2021.

The response for COVID vaccination from the children in the age group of 15 years to 18 years is highly encouraging. Apart from 06 permanent vaccination centers in the Health Facilities, 10 special vaccination camps have been arranged in schools in co-ordination with the Education Department. Some of the existing COVID Vaccination Centers for the adult persons may be converted as vaccination centers for children in next week to further accelerate the pace of vaccination for the children. All out efforts are being made so that the first dose to targeted children in the age group of 15 years to 18 years is administered within this month itself.

With the current pace of vaccination, it is expected that the 100% vaccination with second dose for the targeted adult population may be achieved within one week. All eligible adult persons are requested to immediately get themselves vaccinated without any further delay.

As per advice of the experts, the COVID vaccination provide better capabilities to fight with the COVID virus.
