Review Meeting on Implementation of PM Vishwakarma Scheme in U.T. Chandigarh Ahead of Secretary M/o MSME’s Visit

In view of the upcoming visit of the Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (M/o MSME), Government of India, New Delhi to U.T. Chandigarh, a precursor review meeting was convened on under the chairmanship of Nishant Yadav, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Secretary Industries, U.T. Chandigarh. The meeting was held in the Estate Office, Sector 17, Chandigarh, to assess the progress of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in the Union Territory.

The Director, Department of Industries, U.T. Chandigarh, along with key officials from stakeholder departments, actively participated in the meeting. Representatives from MSME-DFO Ludhiana, RDSDE, CSDM, NULM, NSDC and CSC were present, along with LDM, PNB and esteemed Domain Experts from the District Implementation Committee.

The meeting focused on strategizing measures to boost the number of registrations under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme across U.T. Chandigarh. Discussions were held on the expedited formation of training batches and identification of additional training institutes to introduce a wider range of trades. A key concern raised was the challenges faced by artisans in gathering necessary documentation for their loan applications. The concerned departments have been directed to address these hurdles at the earliest to ensure a seamless facilitation process for artisans.

The discussions and action points from today’s meeting will play a crucial role in the comprehensive review of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme during the visit of the Secretary, M/o MSME, GoI.
