Sacred Heart celebrates 54th Annual Sports Day

Sacred Heart Sr Sec School celebrated its 54th Annual Sports Day- 22- amidst great mirth, verve, and camaraderie. Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, presided over the event.
Rev. Sr Arti, the Principal along with Rev Sr Lucy, the school manager presented a robe of honor and a planter to the Chief Guest. The chief guest hoisted the School Flag and declared the Meet Open. Subsequently, followed by the lighting of the flame by the School’s Sports Captain accompanied by House captains and International and National sportspersons of the school. A spectacular and well- synchronized March Past by the Contingents of all four houses and the School Band of the Senior Wing students mesmerized the large gathering of parent spectators.
The event was the amalgamation of talent, opportunity, competition, and most importantly fun where Heartians competed with the best, to be the best.
One of the most intriguing aspects that embellished the event was the field Display based on the theme “Fitness of Body, Mind, Soul, and Environment”, involving mass student participation which splashed on the field, a riot of hues and vibrance. The display included Grace- the prayer dance, “Agility and Ability” by classes III, “Ring magic” and Blossoms by classes IV and V respectively, and “Magic of Yoga” by Class II. Winners of more than 20 Field and Track events such as Football, throwball, cricket, Netball, Basketball, Sprints, Relay, WheelBarrow, Get ready to school race, Hide the ball under the cone race, etc. were honored with trophies and certificates.
Prof Vivek Lal, the chief guest along with Rev Sr Arti felicitated the alumni of batches 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22 who have excelled in the fields of sports and academics.
Prof Vivek Lal lauded the earnest endeavors of the management, staff, and students for putting up such a ‘fantastic show’. He implored the parents to instill the value of sharing and caring, and also highlighted the essence of physical and mental wellness. . Performing better than best in co-scholastic and sports events, St. Mary’s House earned the coveted Best House Trophy.
It was fun for the little Heartians to see their zealous parents running and clasping chairs in the Musical-Chair game. The support staff also showcased their potential in a track event.
During the Closing Ceremony, the Meet was declared closed by Rev Sr Arti, and the School Flag was handed over to Sr Kusum, the Vice Principal, by the Sports Captain. The lit flame was put off with the Beating of the Retreat.
Rev Sr Arti encouraged the students to keep providing enough physical exercise to strengthen the body, mental exercise to sharpen their brain and practice compassion and kindness to illumine their souls.
Indeed, the Meet was a season of revelry, high energy, enthusiasm, and healthy competition that saw its culmination with the National Anthem.
