Thailand Plans Free Domestic Flights to Woo International Tourists
The Voice of Chandigarh
In a bold move to boost regional tourism, Thailand is set to roll out a THB 700 million (USD 21 million) initiative offering free domestic flights to international visitors.
Under the proposed campaign, titled “Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights”, around 200,000 foreign tourists arriving in Thailand between September and November 2025 will be eligible for flight vouchers.
Travelers could receive up to 1,750 baht for one-way tickets or 3,500 baht for round-trip tickets, redeemable with participating domestic airlines. The program aims to encourage visitors to explore destinations beyond the traditional hotspots of Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket, spreading economic benefits to provinces such as Chiang Mai, Krabi, and the Isaan region.
Tourism and Sports Minister said the scheme is designed to “showcase the diversity of Thailand” while boosting spending in local economies.
Thailand has set a revised 2025 target of 33 million international arrivals, down from its earlier projection of 37 million, after a recent slowdown in visitor growth. Authorities hope the free flights initiative will spark renewed interest and push tourists deeper into the kingdom’s hidden gems.
