In a decisive move to enhance the safety and quality of education in Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh has mandated a thorough inspection of 79 unrecognized schools across the city. This directive aims to enforce stringent adherence to building regulations and fire safety standards to protect students. The SDMs and Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation (MC) have been instructed to complete their inspections and submit a comprehensive action report within three weeks.
The Education Department has provided a detailed list of the schools in question and committed to ensuring that affected students are seamlessly transitioned to nearby recognized schools if any of the unrecognized institutions are found non-compliant and face closure. This proactive measure underscores the administration’s commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare and upholding educational standards in the region.
