World of Travel Factory (WOTF Group), in collaboration with TAFI Western India Chapter, recently hosted a high-impact agent education tour to Athens, aligned with the inaugural IndiGo direct flight from Mumbai to Athens.

The initiative brought together a select group of 17 TAFI-member travel professionals from western India, reflecting a shared industry objective: to leverage improved air connectivity and thoughtfully expand Greece’s destination narrative within the Indian market.

The curated program was designed to showcase both Athens and Rhodes as distinct yet complementary experiences, demonstrating Athens’ potential as a 2–3 night experiential stay while introducing Rhodes as a culturally rich island destination offering depth beyond the traditional Greek circuit. Over the six-day journey, agents experienced guided explorations of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, a full-day cruise to the Argosaronic Gulf islands of Aegina, Poros, and Hydra, and an in-depth discovery of Rhodes’ medieval Old Town, including the Grand Master’s Palace. Additional highlights such as Lindos, Kallithea Springs, the Throne of Helios 9D experience, and curated dining moments, including a traditional Greek folklore dinner, provided first-hand exposure to Greece’s ability to offer varied, well-rounded itineraries across multiple destinations.

In India, WOTF Group is represented by Global Destinations, which continues to drive destination education, trade engagement, and market development initiatives for Greece.

Commenting on the strategic significance of the educational tour, Pranav Kapadia, Founder and Director, Global Destinations, said: “The introduction of direct air connectivity between India and Greece marked a significant milestone for the Indian outbound market. This tour initiative was designed to deepen trade understanding of Greece as a diverse, multi-dimensional destination, moving beyond regular itineraries. First-hand experiential exposure across newer regions enabled travel professionals to gain stronger product insight and confidently curate well-rounded Greek journeys tailored to evolving Indian traveller preferences.”

Nikolas Kavalieros, CEO, WOTF Group, added:
“This educational tour was designed to reinforce Greece’s positioning as a true year-round destination, with a deliberate focus on showcasing its appeal beyond the traditional summer season. By engaging agents during the winter period, the program highlighted Greece as a compelling option for honeymooners and families seeking culture-rich, immersive experiences in a more relaxed and refined setting. With India continuing to be a priority growth market for Greece, supported by enhanced air connectivity and growing cultural resonance, the trip provided trade partners with first-hand exposure to culturally rich destinations such as Athens and Rhodes. Together, these experiences demonstrated Greece’s ability to offer cinematic, well-rounded, multi-destination itineraries across seasons, while supporting sustained, long-term engagement from the Indian market.”

The initiative highlighted a collaborative approach to destination development, combining enhanced air access, trade education, and experiential exposure to reinforce Greece’s competitiveness in a rapidly expanding outbound travel market.
