57th RAISING DAY PARADE OF CHANDIGARH POLICE

Raising Day parade was held at the Parade Ground, RTC, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Banwarilal Purohit was the Chief Guest and took the Salute on this occasion. The parade contingents of Chandigarh Police headed by the Parade Commander Shri P. Abhinandan, SDPO/North East Chandigarh Police, marched down along with the 14 platoons of parade with pipe band & brass band. The march was followed by mounts squad, dog squad, cycle Squad and fleets of vehicles i.e. Activa Scooter, Traffic & beat motorcycles, Interceptor, Ambulance van, Vajra Tear Gas, X-Ray Machine, Children Traffic Van, Bomb Detection, Kawach, Water Canon, Mobile Police Station and Mobile Forensic Van. The tableau on Road Safety, Nasha Mukt (by urja children), Drug awareness, Cyber Swachtta Mission by Cyber Interns were also shown.

Nitin Yadav, IAS, Home Secretary, UT, Chandigarh, Parveer Ranjan, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh and officers from Chandigarh Administration & Police department, Municipal Councilors, Senior Citizens, distinguished invitees and retired police officers were present at the function.

Praveer Ranjan, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh delivered the welcome address to the Hon’ble guests as well as to the audience. DGP/UT in his official address said that Chandigarh Police is always looking for best ways to enhance services for citizens and to provide crime free environment to them. DGP/UT highlighted the recently introduced services by Chandigarh Police which are as under:-

Technology: – Chandigarh Police always acquires latest and modern technology, new schemes to enhance public services to the citizens of Chandigarh, many schemes have been started in this regard:-

  • Chandigarh Police has implemented CCTNS in all its police stations and ranked first across all UT’s on CCTNS’s global dashboard.
  • Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) – Introduced ICJS by integrating (Police) components like e-Court, e-Jail, Criminal Justice System with e-Forensic.
  • Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD) – Database helps government analyze main causes of accidents through which the government can make policies/rules/infrastructure accordingly.
  • Integrated Complaint Management System (ICMS) – A formal digital Integrated Complaint Handling and Investigation Project has been launched.
  • e-FIR – A web application developed by Chandigarh Police for registering First Information Report (FIR) against vehicle theft by general public without going to the police station.
  • E-Beat Book System – Mobile Application recently launched by Hon’ble Home Minister Shri. Amrit Shah in which beats staff have been distributed E-Beat Book Smart tabs.
  • m-Paspport Police App – unified platform for doing verifications of all passports in Chandigarh through online mode in a speedy and convenient manner.

Community policing: – Community policing is a relationship between the police and the public which enables people to provide assistance to the society. The following Citizen centric services have been launched: –

  • Samavesh – Community Police Programme
  • Cyber Sawachta Mission by enrolling College/University Students as cyber interns for cyber education among the society.
  • URJA 2.0 with SPYM and Indian Oil Corporation Limited Partners: To provide better education and drug control to vulnerable children.
  • Samvedna Campaign – Platform for general public for redressal of their grievances and complaints.


Use of Forensics by Chandigarh Police: – To promote forensic science-based investigation, Mobile Forensic Investigation Van for Mobile Forensic Team of Chandigarh Police was recently purchased and appointment letters to 14 Forensic Consultants (Experts in Biological, Ballistic, Chemical, Psychological, and Cyber) have been given. Many initiatives in this direction have been taken in recent times such as signing of MoU with NFSU.

Capacity Building Initiatives: –

  • Advanced Executive Course on Information Security and Digital Forensic to 30 Police Officials from Panjab Engineering College.
  • Smart Training Academy at IRB, Sarangpur is going to be built / equipped with new equipments.
  • Chandigarh Police to strengthen its cyber capabilities going to establish The Centre for Cyber Operations & Security (CenCOP).
  • A total of 225 vehicles have been purchased from August 2021 till date for modernization of police vehicles.

E-Awaas: – Chandigarh Police has allotted 558 houses this year and 192 houses are to be allotted in next phase.

Recruitments: – Chandigarh Police has recently completed the recruitment process of 37 Band Staff, 44 ASI’s, 700 Constable’s in a transparent manner. 1 ASI and 4 constables have been appointed under compassionate grounds. Chandigarh Police is going recruit 45 constables under sports category and will also recruit constables in IT field.

Promotion: – To boost up the morale of police personnel, 150 promotion have been made in different ranks which includes 20 ASI to SI, 16 HC to ASI, 114 Constable to Sr. Constable.

During this occasion, Hon’ble Chief Guest awarded the following Police Stations with the top 3 positions for ‘DGP Running Trophy for best Police Station/Unit’ on the occasion of Raising Day Parade 2023:-

Hon’ble Chief Guest said since the inception, Chandigarh police has earned reputation for itself doing being a force known for its integrity, excellence, commitment, accountability, fairness and professionalism. Hon’ble Chief Guest also praised Chandigarh Police for doing recruitment process in full transparent way. Hon’ble Chief Guest also highlighted the important initiatives started by the Chandigarh Police and praised Chandigarh Police for its professionalism during major occasion like G20 meeting in Chandigarh. At last, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, Banwari Lal Purohit praised and gave compliments to all officers of Chandigarh Police for their best parade.
