Justice Ritu Bahri inaugurated Mega Legal Empowerment Camp in Mauli Jagran under Pan India Legal Awareness Program

In compliance with the directions of NALSA to conduct campaign (empowerment of citizens through legal awareness and outreach) being held from 31st October to 13th November, 2022, the District Legal Services Authority, UT Chandigarh, under the able guidance of Hon’ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri, Hon’ble Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court -cum Chairperson State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, U.T. organised Mega Legal Empowerment Camp at Community Centre, Sundar nagar, Mauli Jagran-II, Chandigrah. The camp was preceded by a week long Pre Camp survey in which people of the area were made aware of the fact that such a camp is being organised. During the camp teams from Department of Social Welfare, Department of Labour, Education Department, Department of Food Supply, Teams from Chandigarh Police, Women and Child Help Line 181, Child Line 1098, Senior Citizen Helpline and Don Bosco Navjeevan Society participated in the camp. The camp was also attended by Hon’ble Justice Alka Sarin, also from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
This was the first such camp organised in Sunder Nagar, at the Community centre, which is surrounded by the EWS colony of Mauli Jagran. Speaking at the occasion Hon’ble Ms. Justice Ritu Bahri said “if all departments of Chandigarh Administration continue to work in an integrated manner then Chandigarh can be made a world class city. She further said that she was working very closely with Social Welfare Department and Education Department in order to improve services for children in Chandigarh.”
Also present at the occasion was Ms. Anshu Shukla, Learned District and Session Judge cum Chairman (in Charge), District Legal Services Authority. She said that District Legal Services is always striving to cover new areas and reach out to more and more people through its Legal Aid Clinics, Legal Aid Clinics, Awareness programs and front Offices. She said that everyone should promote the Helpline Number of DLSA i.e. 8427566990 to ensure the Legal Rights of persons.
Almost around 2200 Residents of Mauli Jagran availed services during the camp. These persons availed the various services for their fresh enrolment for Aadhar Card, Labour cards under Labour Department, Enrolment under various Pensions by Social Welfare Department, Ms. Bimla Dubey Councillor of the area accompanied by Anil Dubey, Ex-Dept Mayor were also present. She shared some of the issues faced by the residents of Mauli Jagran. She was very thankful to Justice Ritu Bahri for conducting such a camp in the area.
Also present at the occasion were Mr. Surender Kumar, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, Mr. . Ashok Kumar Mann, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, UT, Chandigarh, Ms. Parvinder Kaur, Deputy Director, Department of Social welfare, women and child development, Ms. Naveen Sharma Assistant Labour Commissioner, UT Chandigarh, Dr Iqbal Krishan from Health Department, indu Arora, District Education Officer, Chandigarh also graced the occasion.
