A group of kids from the Children’s Development Centre in Ratnapura had a blast this past Children’s Day when SriLankan Cares‚ the corporate social responsibility arm of SriLankan Airlines‚ Galle Face Hotel and Ebert Silva Holidays organized an exciting outing for them.
The day’s activities included a tour of Colombo and a visit to the Bandaranaike International Airport and SriLankan Airlines’ 747 aircraft hangar where the youngsters got to see an Airbus A320 aircraft up close. Before returning to Colombo‚ the group enjoyed a delicious lunch in the Palm Strip Restaurant at the airport sponsored by SriLankan Cares‚ which is solely funded by the employees of SriLankan Airlines.
Saminda Perera‚ Head of Marketing of SriLankan Airlines stated‚ “As an airline that is deeply committed to the welfare of Sri Lankan children year-round, it is only second nature to do something special in celebration of Children’s Day. For us‚ the reward is in seeing the joy that we bring to these children through this collaborative annual event with our trusted partners, Galle Face Hotel and Ebert Silva Holidays. I hope the programme inspires the kids to become their best selves and maybe even consider a career in travel and tourism someday.”
Rajini de Silva Mendis‚ Chairperson of Ebert Silva Holidays said‚ “We are delighted to have come together with the two gracious partners once again to offer children‚ the future pillars of the nation, a splendid experience that gives confidence and motivation to dream big and set their goals high with the sincere hope of seeing them as responsible and worthy citizens of our motherland.”
“Witnessing the radiant smiles on the children’s faces was both heartwarming and inspiring. Joining forces with our partners for a noble cause and extending the embrace of hospitality to these deserving kids was truly a remarkable and enriching experience‚” added Rohan Fernandopulle, General Manager of Galle Face Hotel.
The children were later hosted for treats and tea by the Galle Face Hotel and had fun dancing and belting out to favourite tunes performed by a band at the venue. They were also gifted with goody bags from the three event partners at the closure of the event.
