Commissioner directs enforcement staff to remove un-authorized advertisements & sky-signs from Chandigarh

Taking serious view of the mushrooming growth of the Advertisements and sky-signs contrary to the provisions of Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order, 1954, the Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, IAS, directed the concerned enforcement staff to initiate special drives throughout city to remove and seize the unauthorized advertisements in the city.
The Commissioner directed the enforcement staff that no violator will be spared during the special drives. He directed that unauthorized advertisements and sky-signs be confiscated during the drive and penalties be imposed as per the provisions of Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order-1954.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has got published a public notice in various newspapers on 24th November, 2024 whereby the violators were informed to take down all such advertisements, which have not been approved by the competent authority and violating the norms of Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order-1954.
It was further advised by the MCC to get the unauthorized advertisements approved from the competent authority which are permissible on payment basis in the approved zoning plan within 15 days from the publication of the notices in various newspapers. But after completion of 15 days, it has been observed that none of the violators have adhere it.
Keeping in view the regular mushrooming growth of illegal advertisements in the city, the Commissioner directed strict compliance under the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order, 1954.
