NO MORE ANNUAL RENEWALS: FSSAI REFORMS SPARK BIG RELIEF FOR FOOD BUSINESSES IN CHANDIGARH

Chandigarh Business Council Hails Landmark Move to Boost Ease of Doing Business

The Chandigarh Business Council (CBC) has strongly welcomed the revised registration norms introduced by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, calling them a “transformational reform” for the food industry. The new guidelines eliminate the requirement of annual renewal of food licenses, bringing significant relief to food business operators.

Terming the decision a long-awaited step, CBC President Ajay Gupta said, “This is a game-changing reform that will significantly reduce the compliance burden on food businesses. The removal of annual renewal is a major relief, especially for small and medium enterprises that often struggle with repetitive paperwork and costs. This move will truly accelerate ease of doing business in Chandigarh.”

Chief Patron Neeraj Bajaj, owner of Sindhi Sweets, highlighted the practical impact, stating, “For decades, food business operators have been tied up in unnecessary renewal processes. This reform will allow entrepreneurs to focus on quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction rather than compliance cycles. It’s a progressive and industry-friendly decision.”

Echoing similar views, Senior Vice President Sukhpal Singh, owner of Baba Dairy, remarked, “This step will bring operational ease at the grassroots level. Small vendors and dairy operators will benefit immensely, as they can now channel their resources into improving hygiene and product standards instead of managing yearly renewals.”

The revised FSSAI norms aim to simplify the licensing framework, enhance transparency, and promote digital compliance systems. Industry stakeholders believe the move will not only save time and costs but also strengthen regulatory efficiency.

Business leaders across Chandigarh have lauded the initiative, expressing optimism that such reforms will further energize the local food sector while maintaining high standards of food safety.

The Chandigarh Business Council has also urged authorities to continue introducing forward-looking policies that empower businesses and ensure consumers receive safe, high-quality food products.
