Chandigarh Council Reviews Clinical Establishments Act Implementation; Mandatory Registration Emphasised

A meeting of the Union Territory, Chandigarh Council for Clinical Establishments was held under the chairmanship of Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Secretary Health, Chandigarh Administration, at the UT Secretariat, Chandigarh.
The meeting was attended by the Director AYUSH, President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), representatives from Bharat Vikas Parishad, Registrar of the Dental and Pharmacy Councils, and other distinguished members of the Council for Clinical Establishments, UT Chandigarh.
During the meeting, the Action Taken Report of the previous meeting held on 5th September 2025 was reviewed. Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health & Family Welfare, Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH-16), Chandigarh, made a detailed presentation on the status of implementation of the Clinical Establishments (Registration & Regulation) Act, 2010.

The Secretary Health directed that registration under the Clinical Establishments Act, 2010 be made mandatory for all private and public healthcare facilities, including clinics, laboratories, diagnostic centres, hospitals, and nursing homes, operating under any recognized system of medicine within the jurisdiction of UT Chandigarh.

The Chairperson further directed that all Clinical Establishments must mandatorily display the rates charged for various services, along with details of available facilities, at a conspicuous place in both the local language and English, for the benefit and transparency of patients.
