Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh Chairs Review Meeting for Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Proposed Visit to Chandigarh

Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, chaired a review meeting with senior officers to finalize arrangements for the proposed visit of the Hon’ble Prime Minister to Chandigarh on July 17, 2026.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed preparations relating to security, protocol, traffic management, venue management, parking, public convenience, emergency services and inter-departmental coordination. He directed all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities and maintain seamless coordination for the smooth conduct of the programme.

Emphasizing public convenience, the Deputy Commissioner instructed that adequate arrangements for drinking water, public parking, toilets and medical assistance be ensured at the venue. He also directed that, in the event of rainfall, proper drainage arrangements, waterlogging-free premises and safe, dry pedestrian pathways be ensured for the convenience of the public.

The Deputy Commissioner further instructed the concerned officers to make comprehensive arrangements at the Green Room, the helipad and all other designated protocol areas, ensuring that every logistical and protocol requirement is put in place well in advance. He also directed that uninterrupted power supply, public address systems and other essential services remain fully functional throughout the programme.

Venue In-Charges, Executive Magistrates and Sector In-Charges have been assigned specific responsibilities at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, the venue of the programme, as well as along the VVIP movement routes. They will supervise stage management, seating arrangements, protocol, parking, crowd management and maintenance of law and order.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that a comprehensive dry run will be conducted on July 16, 2026, to assess the preparedness of all departments and ensure seamless coordination among the agencies involved. He directed all officers to remain present during the dry run, address any shortcomings immediately and ensure foolproof arrangements for the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s visit on July 17, 2026.

Senior officers from the Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh Police, Engineering Department, Transport Department, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Chandigarh Housing Board and other concerned departments attended the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that all arrangements should be completed well in advance and instructed officers to remain vigilant, work in close coordination and ensure flawless execution of their assigned responsibilities.
