Thailand Cuts Visa-Free Stay for Indian Travellers from 60 to 30 Days from September 15

Thailand will reduce the visa-free stay for Indian travellers from 60 days to 30 days, effective September 15, 2026, under revised visa-exemption rules published in the Royal Gazette.

• Indian passport holders will continue to enjoy visa-free entry for tourism for up to 30 days.
• The revised 30-day exemption is intended for tourism purposes; travellers entering Thailand for other purposes must use the appropriate visa or applicable entry arrangement.
• The new rules generally limit land-border entries under the 30-day exemption to two per calendar year, with exceptions for certain neighbouring-country nationals.
• Existing bilateral visa-exemption agreements remain unaffected.
• Travellers entering Thailand before September 15 under the existing rules will retain the permitted stay granted to them and will not have their existing stay automatically shortened.
