AAP Sweeps Punjab Municipal Elections, Wins 908 Seats Across State
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as the dominant force in the Punjab Municipal Elections, winning 915 seats so far as counting of votes continues across several municipal bodies in the state.
The Indian National Congress (INC) secured 364 seats, finishing as the second-largest party in the civic polls. Independent candidates also made a significant impact, winning 248 seats in different municipal wards.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) managed to win 189 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 164 seats.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) won 7 seats in the elections.
Punjab Municipal Election Results:
- AAP – 915 seats won
- INC – 364 seats won
- Independents – 248 seats won
- SAD – 189 seats won
- BJP – 164 seats won
- BSP – 7 seats won
Political observers believe the results have further strengthened AAP’s position in Punjab politics, while opposition parties are expected to review their performance after the civic poll setback.
