The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, conducted a detailed review of healthcare facilities across the city, with a focus on strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring quality medical services for citizens. During the visit, he also reviewed educational infrastructure and environmental initiatives being undertaken by the Chandigarh Administration.
At the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), South Campus, Sector 48, the Administrator reviewed the wide range of healthcare services being provided to citizens, including Ayush OPD and Homeopathy services, and was informed about the upcoming Panchkarma facility by Health Secretary Mandip Singh Brar.
Emphasizing the importance of accessible and quality healthcare, the Governor reiterated the Administration’s commitment to providing the best possible medical facilities to the people and strengthening healthcare infrastructure in government hospitals across the Union Territory of Chandigarh. He stressed that continuous efforts are being made to enhance healthcare services and upgrade medical infrastructure to ensure better treatment and improved patient care for all citizens.
The Administrator also reviewed Physiotherapy, Immunisation, Day Care, Oncology, Yoga, Dental and Paediatric OPDs, along with Radiation Oncology services. The Health Secretary informed him that several new OPDs have recently been started and that public awareness campaigns are being carried out to further increase awareness and improve utilization of healthcare services.
At Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Sector 47, and Civil Hospital, Sector 45, the Administrator was accompanied by the Health Secretary and Director Health Services, Dr. Suman Singh. He reviewed pharmacy services, including Ayurvedic Pharmacy, Homeopathy OPD, Dental OPD, ANC OPD and ANM/RCH Room, along with emergency services, ECG facilities, EMO Room services, basic health checks including BP monitoring, and malaria laboratory services. He also interacted with patients and their attendants to seek feedback regarding the facilities being provided and received a positive response regarding the healthcare services.
Later, at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Maloya, the Administrator reviewed issues relating to schools that were raised during the Maloya Samadhan Shivir. It was informed that a tender for the construction of 25 rooms has been approved to further strengthen infrastructure at Government High School, Maloya. Education Secretary Ms. Prerna Puri and Director School Education Shri Nitish Singla were also present during the visit.
Earlier, at the Daddu Majra Dumping Ground site, the Administrator reviewed ongoing development works for the proposed tree plantation drive scheduled for July. Directions were issued to Municipal Commissioner Shri Amit Kumar to complete the levelling work on priority to ensure smooth plantation activities during the monsoon season.
