Air India Flight Hits Severe Turbulence, 12 Injured on Phuket–Delhi Route

Twelve people, including passengers and cabin crew, were injured after an Air India flight from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi was hit by severe turbulence on Tuesday.

The flight, AI2379, was carrying The flight was carrying 137 passengers, including 3 infants, and 8 crew members (2 pilots and 6 cabin crew). During the journey, the aircraft suddenly dropped by about 300 feet due to unexpected turbulence. However, the pilots quickly brought the aircraft under control and landed it safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

After landing, medical teams were already waiting at the airport. The injured passengers and crew members were given first aid, and those who needed further treatment were taken to nearby hospitals.

Air India said it is providing all possible help to the injured passengers and crew. The airline also thanked its staff for handling the situation safely.

The incident is a reminder that turbulence can happen without warning. Passengers are advised to keep their seat belts fastened while seated, even when the seat belt sign is turned off.

Aviation authorities are expected to look into the incident as part of the normal safety review.
