Anindita Mitra Launches Bicycle safety campaign in Chandigarh
The Voice of Chandigarh News:
Taking the road safety initiative forward, Anindita Mitra, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. launched the chapter of Bicycle Safety Campaign at Chandigarh in the presence of Patiala Foundation Chief Functionary Ravee Singh Ahluwalia and others.
An initiative of Patiala Foundation in collaboration with Chandigarh Smart City Limited has been launched at sector 17 by pasting reflective stickers on bicycles of labourers and other citizens at sector 17.
While speaking on the occasion, CEO, CSCL said that this initiative had been started by Patiala Foundation ‘SADAK’ in the year 2017 with the motive of serving the weaker section of the society in order to protect their lives from any road mishap. Many people riding bicycles become victims of horrific road crashes just for the reason that their bicycles are not visible to the other motorised vehicle in the dark or under foggy conditions; such mishappenings can be effectively prevented by putting on reflective stickers on their cycles.
She said that through this Road Safety Initiative “SADAK” team alongwith its Volunteers and MASCOTS have been organizing Road Safety Enhancers Camps which includes Reflective stickers, Reflective tags, Reflective wrist bands, Reflective Jackets etc. since 4 years now and have covered around 12000 Bicycles at various Labour chownks, cycle stands and schools in the state of Punjab & Haryana with the sole objective of making them aware about Road Safety by placing reflective stickers on their bicycles.
The CEO further said that all the expenditure will be born by the Patiala Foundation and the Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. will provide only the platform to the volunteers, who will paste such stickers in the bicycles throughout city i.e. labour chowk, Manimajra, Maloya and other parts as well keeping in view the road safety of the people using bicycles.
