Inaugural Post Graduate Convocation Marks Milestone for GMCH, Chandigarh

GMCH, Sector-32, Chandigarh held its inaugural Post Graduate Convocation, today on April 26, 2024. The event marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the MD, MS, DM, and MPhil students, who were conferred with their hard-earned degrees.

Ram Nath Kovind, former President of India was the Chief Guest of the convocation while Banwarilal Purohit, Governor Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh was the Guest of Honour. Their participation added immense prestige and encouragement to the achievements of postgraduating students.

This year, the Panjab University granted GMCH the privilege to confer Post Graduate Degrees independently marking a significant development in the academic autonomy and underscoring the trust and recognition bestowed upon GMCH by the academic community.

GMCH, Chandigarh is a premier medical institution committed to excellence in healthcare, education, and research. The institution has a rich legacy of nurturing medical professionals and contributing to the advancement of medical science.

Present during the convocation were Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Rajeev Verma, Secretary, Medical Education & Research, Ajay Chagti, Director-Principal, Prof. A.K. Attri, Professor in charge, Academics, Prof. G.P. Thami and other distinguished faculty and guests.

The Chief guest congratulated around 270 post graduate doctors who got their degrees today. He said, “this degree is a great achievement for you, as well as for your professors and families. Your achievement is a result of your own hard work, but it has also been facilitated by the support you have received from your professors and your families.”

Kovind said that access to healthcare is a basic human right and our country has progressed a lot in providing international-quality healthcare to not only our own people, but also to the patients from countries in our neighbourhood, and beyond.

In today’s era, the medical field is changing with the increasing use of information technology, robotics, and the emerging applications of artificial intelligence. He wished that all may perform many-many years of service to medicine, to nation and to humanity.
